Azkals and the PH Dragon Boat Team

I agree that the support the Azkals are getting will help increase awareness to the sport and might interest a number of people to play the game. It's fun and I had my share of games way back in high school. You can see Azkal ads everywhere but it is true that the dream which was the World Cup is no more.

Looking around, I got the chance to read how well the Philippine Dragonboat team won 5 Golds and 2 Silvers in the recent International Dragon Boat Federation World Championships in Tampa Bay, Florida. For those who are not aware that this team exsisted, don't be so hard on yourself. I saw a random tweet today revealing these stats:

Dragonboat
PH Dragon Boat team (2011): 5 Golds, 2 Silvers, 0 commercials, 90% Pinoy

Azkals-ad

PH Azkals: 0 Golds, 0 trophies, 5 TV ads, 20% Pinoy

I understand that the Dragonboat team = army men and the Askals = commercial/underwear models but I think the Dragonboat team needs more visibility. I know its not everyone's dream to row your heart out in manila bay but the team deserves the support for accomplishing what they did this year alone. The team is already happy with less than 10K likes in Facebook while the Askals have almost 60K.

Instead of having something bizzare like a multiple underwear billboard ad for a sports team...Lets just give the PH Dragon Boat Team a big Like!
